Bailey Cates is a current student at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music studying Trumpet Performance with John Rommel and Baroque Trumpet with Kris Kwapis. Having held prior positions as Principal Trumpet of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as the ILMEA Honors All-State Orchestra, Bailey has continued to further her education in orchestral trumpet playing, having performed with Indiana University’s premier Philharmonic Orchestra. Bailey attended the Aspen Music Festival this summer, where she received the Harriett and Richard Gold Scholarship for the 2023 summer season. Bailey also serves as a substitute for the New World Symphony 2023/24 season. She has been teaching private lessons for 6 years, and hopes to build a studio of inspired trumpet players of all ages.

Originally from Elburn, IL Bailey lives in Bloomington, IN and enjoys spending time with her amazingly supportive and wonderful friends and playing with her cat, Baby.
